Lady Bulldogs win honors, set records

The Carl Junction Lady Bulldogs brought home a district volleyball championship Oct. 27. Several members of the team drew accolades from post-season selection committees. Three set new school records during the season.
Katelyn Joyner broke two CJHS school records. Joyner set the record for most assists in a match at 38. The previous record of 34 was set by Mica Dalton in 2007. Joyner broke a second record set by Dalton. Dalton set the record for career assists at 792. Joyner shattered Dalton's previous record with 1068 career assists.
Mackenzie Valenti set a new record for kills in a single game with 28. Tesia Lahm previously held the record of 21, set in 2007.
Desiree Felker, senior, set a record for career digs with 309.
Players also earned inclusion into several post-season teams. Katelyn Joyner was a unanimous pick for first team All-Conference. Mackenzie Valenti was named to the second team. Felker won honorable mention.
Valenti, Joyner and Felker were all named first team All-District. Senior Korie Johnson was named to the second team.
Two players were also named to All Missouri High School Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region teams. Joyner received first team honors, with Valenti being named to the second team.
