Joplin Regional Airport offers commercial service
Great Lakes Airlines, a Cheyenne, Wyoming based company started service during 2008. It offers Joplin travelers daily flights to Kansas City International Airport. Great Lakes started service to the airport with 14 roundtrips each week from Joplin to Kansas City on a 19-seat Beechcraft 1900D. "The Joplin market has shown strong support for service to Kansas City," Charles Howell, CEO of Great Lakes Airlines, stated in a news release. "They have begun with a two-flight schedule, and are planning to add a third flight soon. It is important in today's economy to have a plan as we add cities to our Midwest operation in Kansas City." Great Lakes provides passenger service at 50 airports in 14 states. The airline has code-share agreements with United Airlines and Frontier Airlines at its Denver, Phoenix and Kansas City hubs. The company also operates hubs in Albuquerque, Milwaukee and St. Louis. For more information you may go online to: www.flygreatlakes.com Parking is free and our lot is a short walk to the terminal and gate area. No need to arrive two hours early to clear security, one hour prior flight time will be fine. We provide a convenient, hassle-free environment to your flying experience. Rental cars are also available through Avis and Hertz. Exciting changes are on the horizon for the airport; the existing 50-year-old terminal facility will be replaced with a new up-to-date structure that will help to meet the need for commercial aviation in this community for the future. Modern conveniences will be included such as boarding bridges, upgraded security procedures and additional upgrades to meet changing ADA accessibility requirements. The terminal is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2008. The airport is also home to Mizzou Aviation, our Fixed Base Operator. Mizzou provides aircraft support services for private and corporate aircraft and is the place to go for those who want to learn to fly or want to charter a flight. Pilots will find a conference room, lounge with telephone and Internet access and private phone booths for their use. Bearskin Cargo & Queen City Airfreight provide both air and ground freight services for the region. No matter what your air flight needs, Joplin can get you where you want to go and bring you safely home when your trip is over. |
