Mission Statement:
To raise awareness, fund research, and to educate. To offer support, both emotional and financial to those impacted by breast cancer. Our goal is to work hand in hand with regional breast cancer organizations and the medical community, to fulfill our mission statement goals. It is our mission to show that, when it comes to breast cancer, Carl Junction C.A.R.E.S.
What We Are:
Carl Junction C.A.R.E.S. began in 2008, as a grass roots movement, in a small town in Carl Junction, Missouri (population 7,500). Our initial goal in 2008 was to build on our town's existing bi-annual visit from a mobile mammography unit.
We wanted to do more than just offer mammograms. We also wanted to raise awareness about breast cancer. And we wanted to somehow find a way to financially make a difference. We chose selling USPS breast cancer awareness postage stamps, which fund breast cancer research, as how we would make a difference.
That year our goal was to sell $10,000 worth of the stamps in October (National Breast Cancer Awareness Month) at the Carl Junction Post Office. That goal was met, with 14 minutes to spare! We celebrated by asking those involved to pose for what became known as our "Annual Community Snapshot." In 2008, seventeen people involved in meeting our goals posed for the 2008 Community Snapshot. The picture reflected not only our postmaster, but our City Council, Mayor, civic leaders and more.
This year, thanks to our volunteers and supporters, Carl Junction C.A.R.E.S.
will raise money for local breast cancer organizations by holding events and
fundraisers through-out the month of October.

This year, thanks to our volunteers and supporters, Carl Junction C.A.R.E.S. will raise money for breast cancer research by helping the Carl Junction Post Office, sell breast cancer awareness postage stamps, through-out the month of October.
Last year the post office that placed first in the nation for selling breast cancer awareness postage stamps, sold $42,000 worth of breast cancer awareness postage stamps. Last year, we gave them a run for their money! It took a couple of weeks to confirm the final numbers, but when the numbers came in, Carl Junction was second in the nation! Will the Carl Junction Post Office place first in the nation this year? It will be mid-November, by the time we get the final numbers. But, if we find out that the Carl Junction Post Office has finished first, we have one more surprise planned by members of Carl Junction C.A.R.E.S., to show that it takes a village to be first in the nation, in raising breast cancer research money & "stamping out" breast cancer!
