    St. John's Regional Medical Center has been providing healthcare for more than 110 years.  The Sisters of Mercy opened Joplin's first hospital in 1896.  Today, St. John's Regional Medical Center is a modern 367-bed medical center offering many medical and community services.  St. John's is a major referral hospital serving 19 counties in Missouri, Oklahoma and Kansas.  A few of the St. John's facilities in the area include a critical access hospital in Columbus, KS, an ExpressCare faciliy in both Joplin and Neosho, and a comprehensive WorkPartners occupational medicine facility.

    St. John's Medical Group is a multi-speciality physician group providing clinics in communities throughout the 4-state area.  The Medical Group consists of more than 110 providers with specialties including:  Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Anesthesiology, CArdiology, Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, Infectious Disease, Neurology, Neurosurgey, Occupational Medicine, Opthamology, Pulmonology, Radiology, Rheumatology, and Wound Care.

    St. John's believes in the total concept of healing and works to meet not only the patients' physical needs, but their psychological, emotional and spiritual ones as well.  Providing the services to meet those needs is a medical staff of more than 250 physicians and dentists who offer a wide range of medical expertise.  They are supported by a staff of 2,200 skilled employees and 600 volunteers.

    It was 1922 when John and Florence Freeman donated their home to be used as a hospital in memory of thier son, Orley.  In 1925 a 75 bed addition was made to the home and Freeman has been growing ever since.  The hospital has two locations in Joplin and one in Neosho, along with numerous satellite facilities throughout the area.

    Today Freeman Health System has 389 beds, employees 3,844 people and utilizes the valuable services of more than 250 volunteers.  The hospital facilities include the Freeman Cancer Institute, The Heart Institute, Health Essentials, Home Care, Maternity Center, OccuMed, orthopedics, pediatrics, plastic and reconstructive surgical care, radiology, senior services, behavioral health services, a sleep center and many others.
